| (728) Charles PERRANDEAU (Loiret, 1865 - 1903) Harvesters Oil on canvas 18 1/4" x 21 3/4" 25" x 28 1/2" framed LR: Ch. Perrandeau | |
| A painter of the French school, Perrandeau typically executed genre scenes, portraits and landscapes. He was a student of the famed Cabanel, and began exhibiting at the Paris Salon beginning in 1880 at the ripe young age of fifteen. He then showed pieces later at the Salon des Artistes Francais, and was awarded a silver medal in 1889 at the Exposition Universelle. Celebrated for his soothing palette and strong technical ability, Perrandeau's canvases with their often melancholic sentiments epitomized the hidden aspects of the Belle Epoque.
