| A painter of the British school, Blake typically executed both landscapes and still lifes. He was a founding member of the Society of British Artists, and exhibited his canvases with this group regularly until his death. He began showing his pieces at the Royal Academy in 1807, and throughout the course of his artistic career displayed some 13 works there, in addition to 17 at the British Institution and 19 at Suffolk Street. Celebrated for his magnificent eye for detail in his paintings, Blake was also known for his landscapes of Dunford.
