| Fried, an artist of the Hungarian school, worked primarily with pastels, but also used oil paints regularly. He was known for being an important figure painter, and most often depicted beautiful young women, nudes and ballerinas. Reproductions of his ballerina pictures are rather common, especially in the small collectible format. His work is considered to be highly collectible, especially in the private sector, and many of his paintings hung in the famed Haussner Restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland. Fried worked in Paris for most of his life, painting high society and street scenes.
