          ERROR MSGAn artist of the French school, Dignimont executed figures, genre scenes, portraits, nudes, landscapes, and flowers in a variety of different mediums including oil, watercolor, and gouache.  He was also a skilled engraver, drawer, and illustrator.  Participating with many other fellow artists in exhibitions at the Salon of Automne, he also showed his works at the Salon of the Tuileries.  It was at the Salon of Araignee founded by Gus Bofa, however, that he began to understand the direction in which his oeuvre was headed.  From this point onward, he sought to revive the art of illustration.

          Dignimont illustrated a number of books and manuscripts in his lifetime.  Among the more well known of these are Amants et Voleurs by T. Bernard, Un nouvel amour by A. Beucler, Mes Amis, un soir chez Blutel by E. Bove, L'Ingenue libertine, Mitsou, and La Vagabonde by Colette, Le train de 8h 47 by G. Courteline, La bonne vie by Galatier-Boissiere, Marthe by J.K. Huysmans, L'Annonciation by G. Isarlov, Le Tresseur de fil de fer by P. Istrati, ERROR MSGLe cachemire ecarlate by J. de Lacretelle, La Maison de Philibert by J. Lorrain, Quatorze images by P. Louys, Le chant de l'equipage by P. Mac Orlan, ERROR MSGLes contes by Perrault, Bonne fille by J. Viollis, Mimi Pinson by A. de Musset, and Autant en emporte le vent by M. Mitchell.  Dignimont was made a Knight in the Legion of Honor as a result of his skill and merits as an artist, and his nudes in particular have been widely appreciated and studied.
