| (717) Karl MULLER (b. 1865, Hamburg) Meeting in the park, 1899 ERROR MSGOil on canvas 46 1/2" x 35 1/4" 54" x 42" framed LL: Karl Muller Hbg. 99 | |
| A painter of the German late nineteenth century school, Muller typically executed portraits, genre scenes, cityscapes and military subjects. He studied the fine art of painting in both Dresden and Berlin, and was also a noteworthy illustrator. Muller's talent as a painter is immediately recognizable in many aspects of his canvases. This particular canvas combines all of his various types of paintings in one, and is masterfully executed. His study of the various effects of light on the landscape is rather remarkable here, as is his knowledge of human anatomy. Also of note is his warm palette.
